"Occupational therapy is the only profession that helps people across the lifespan to do the things they want and need to do through the therapeutic use of daily activities (occupations). Occupational therapy practitioners enable people of all ages to live life to its fullest by helping them promote health, and prevent—or live better with—injury, illness, or disability.” -AOTA
We know that the most important occupation for children is play. Through play, and playful interaction, occupational therapists in our clinic address a variety of skills. The skills include self-care, emotional regulation, sensory regulation, social interactions with others, as well as executive functioning. We strive to help children be successful in their occupations at home, while learning and living in the community. We want to help children and families achieve their goals of being successful at any occupation in which they choose to participate.
Our team of speech-language pathologists work to prevent, assess, diagnose and treat speech, language, social communication, cognitive-communication, fluency, voice and swallowing disorders in children and adult populations. We work to develop and enhance effective and viable communication options to allow individuals to express their wants, needs and ideas to those around them through a variety of evidence-based therapy approaches. Additionally, we carry additional certifications in Beckman Oral Motor Therapy and the SOS (Sequential Oral Sensory) Approach for addressing feeding and swallowing disorders. The Moore Autism Center also partners with Oklahoma ABLE Tech to provide demonstrations, loans and evaluation for obtaining Speech Generating Devices and other Augmentative and Alternative Communication opportunities.
